The Ministry of Defense confirmed on Tuesday that security forces are continuing to monitor desert areas and have found no trace of foreign forces.
Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, Director of Media and Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defense, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “There is nothing to indicate the presence of a military base, a military zone, or anything that suggests the possible presence of hostile military forces.”
He explained that information was received last March about the presence of foreign forces, but it lasted no more than 48 hours.
“Security forces were informed by a source on March 3rd, and on March 4th, they moved towards the location,” he added.
“Security forces, along with special forces and other security agencies, went to the location on March 5th and found no evidence of a camp or the presence of security forces,” al-Khafaji confirmed.
“This indicates that the presence of the forces was limited to a few hours and ended with the departure of security forces,” he stressed, clarifying that “the location did not contain any traces or evidence indicating the presence of hostile military forces.”
