Baghdad Operations Command announced on Sunday the closure of a hall used for gambling and betting activities, confirming the arrest of four individuals found inside the venue.
According to a statement issued by the Command and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “During search, inspection, and area-clearing operations, as well as auditing procedures targeting hotels, halls, and restaurants, units from the First Federal Police Division, in coordination with detachments from the Tourism Security Directorate and the Residency and Nationality Directorate, and supported by intelligence agencies and security units, succeeded in shutting down a hall where gambling and betting activities were being conducted.”
The statement added that “four violators were arrested inside the premises while caught in the act. Authorities also seized 90 gambling machines along with other related equipment in Karrada area on the Rusafa side of Baghdad.”
The Command further noted that “the suspects and confiscated materials were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures against them.”
