The formation of the Baghdad Parliamentary Service and Social Bloc was announced in Baghdad on Wednesday.
A statement issued by the group and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that, “Based on our national and moral responsibility towards our people in the capital, Baghdad, we announced, along with a number of members of the House of Representatives from Baghdad Governorate, the launch of our parliamentary youth service social project under the name: (Baghdad Parliamentary Service Social Group).”
It added, "The group comprises 12 members of parliament from various political blocs and affiliations, united by a single goal: serving the people of Baghdad and working diligently to address the service and livelihood issues that directly affect citizens' lives."
It emphasized that "this group represents an independent national service project, free from sectarianism and any political rivalries or conflicts. Its aim is to unify parliamentary efforts to serve the capital and to work in a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility." He noted that "the group will work on following up on a number of important issues, most notably:
- Directly addressing citizens' concerns and demands."
- Working to finalize contracts within the Ministry of Education and other ministries.
- Following up on the conversion of daily wage workers to contract positions.
- Monitoring the salary scale and ensuring fair employment practices.
- Supporting and improving public services in Baghdad, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, and stalled projects.
- Monitoring the performance of relevant authorities and holding those responsible accountable according to the law.
Supporting every sincere national effort that contributes to serving the people of the capital.
He stated that "this project will be the beginning of an ongoing process of field and parliamentary work," noting that "other steps and procedures that serve the interests of our people in Baghdad will be announced later to fulfill their aspirations for a dignified life and better services."
