Baghdad – INA

Former MP Raed Al-Maliki on Saturday extended congratulations to the head of the Iraqi Media Network, Karim Hammadi, on the 70th anniversary of Iraq Television.

In his message received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Maliki said, “We congratulate you and all employees of the Iraqi Media Network on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Iraq Television, which began broadcasting on May 2, 1956, from Baghdad. It is considered the first television station in the Middle East and the first Arabic-language television station in the world.”

He added, “We hope that you and all staff will exert further efforts to continue the national approach adopted by the satellite channels, radio stations, and newspapers operating under the umbrella of IMN.”

Al-Maliki stressed the need to keep the Iraqi Media Network away from political quota-sharing and to ensure its independence so it can carry out its media mission with professionalism and neutrality as a state institution.
