Government Spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi confirmed on Thursday that the Prime Minister's visit will focus on economic agreements in the transportation and industry sectors.
Al-Aboudi stated in a press conference, which was covered by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Prime Minister is beginning an official visit to Iran at the invitation of the Iranian President. He will lead dialogues and discussions that serve the common interests of both countries and achieve strategic objectives that contribute to the security, stability, and prosperity of the region."
He added that "the visit, led by the Prime Minister and accompanied by a high-level government delegation, carries Iraq's message that peace and diplomatic dialogue are what strengthen the region's security and solidify its economic stability and development."
Al-Aboudi explained that "the discussions and dialogues in Tehran will focus on a range of economic agreements and joint cooperation in the transportation, industry, and financial sectors. All regional developments and international issues that serve the region will also be addressed."
He pointed out that "Iraq's message in all these visits will focus on the importance of resorting to dialogue and diplomacy and reducing the level of crisis in the region," noting that "the Iraqi government will proceed from its keenness to provide a safe environment for the region's economy and enhance the development environment from which Iraq proceeds and strengthens its common interests with its regional and international surroundings."
