The Ministry of Health announced today, Thursday, that the initial toll from the car ramming incident in Basra has reached 9 dead and 12 injured.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Minister of Health, Abdul Hussein Al-Moussawi, is directly monitoring the health status of those injured in the car ramming incident that targeted a number of pilgrims in Basra Governorate."
He added that "the initial statistics show at least 9 deaths and 12 injuries," noting that "the Minister has directed health institutions to mobilize and deploy all available medical resources and ambulance teams to provide urgent care to the injured."
He continued, "It has been emphasized that the condition of the injured will be closely monitored and that all necessary medical supplies will be provided."
