President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Wednesday Iraq's interest in strengthening its relations with European countries and expanding cooperation in various fields.
The Presidential Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "President Nizar Amidi received a phone call from the President of the European Council, António Costa, during which they discussed the overall political and security developments in the region."
During the call, the President emphasized "Iraq's interest in strengthening its relations with European countries and their institutions, expanding political, economic, investment, and development cooperation, and coordinating efforts to address shared challenges."
He stressed "the necessity of intensifying international efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and adopting dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve crises in a way that contributes to consolidating security and stability and spares the peoples of the region further tensions and conflicts."
