US President Donald Trump received Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi at the White House earlier today as part of the Prime Minister's official visit to the United States.
Formal talks are expected to be held at the White House to discuss bilateral relations.
Earlier, Iraqi government spokesman Haider al-Abudi stated that "the most important topics to be discussed and debated are the strategic partnership between the two countries, which at this stage represents the most important step towards strengthening this partnership and moving it from a phase of crisis management and security presence to one of economic cooperation, thus giving this relationship a sustainable strategic dimension."
