Gas prices on European exchanges witnessed a sharp rise on Wednesday following statements by US President Donald Trump announcing the collapse of the ceasefire with Iran.

According to data from the London-based ICE Futures Exchange, August futures contracts on the TTF index, based in the Netherlands, opened at $571, marking a 3.7% increase.

By 9:09 AM Moscow time, the index had reached $566.6 (a 2.9% increase), before accelerating to $580.5 by 11:22 AM Moscow time, achieving a 5.4% increase compared to the previous closing price of $550.6 per thousand cubic meters.

This sharp rise came after US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran was "no longer valid" from his point of view, adding that "negotiations with Iran have lost their meaning," which raised market concerns about escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, a vital corridor for global energy supplies.
