Construction and Development Coalition Renews Support for the Anti-Corruption Campaign and the State's Monopoly on Weapons

The Construction and Development Coalition renewed its support on Sunday for the anti-corruption campaign and the state's monopoly on weapons. It also affirmed its commitment to enacting the package of laws submitted by its parliamentary bloc and to working on passing priority legislation that directly impacts citizens' lives.

The media office of the Construction and Development Coalition said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Construction and Development Coalition held an expanded meeting today, chaired by the head of the coalition, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, during which the latest developments in the political scene and the general situation in the country were discussed, in addition to discussing the organizational files of the parliamentary bloc.”

The statement added that "in continuation of the institutional development process, the meeting approved the parliamentary bloc's internal regulations and elected a bloc leader, two deputy leaders, a rapporteur, and an official spokesperson. This will enhance the efficiency of parliamentary work, solidify institutional performance, and contribute to developing decision-making mechanisms."

The coalition affirmed, according to the statement, its commitment to "proceeding with the legislation of the package of laws submitted by its parliamentary bloc, and working to enact priority legislation that directly impacts citizens' lives, contributes to strengthening economic development, improving the level of services, and consolidating social stability, in line with the requirements of the current stage and the aspirations of our people."

The coalition reiterated, according to the statement, "its support for the governmental and judicial measures taken by the competent authorities in combating administrative and financial corruption, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the law, and in a manner that strengthens the rule of law, preserves the independence of the judiciary, enshrines the principle of accountability, and ensures the achievement of justice free from any politicization, selectivity, or discrimination."

The coalition affirmed "its support for the state's monopoly on the use of force, strengthening the authority of constitutional institutions, consolidating the rule of law, adhering to independent national decision-making, and working to end any foreign presence on Iraqi land, in order to achieve full state sovereignty over its land, airspace, and territorial waters, in accordance with the constitution and applicable laws."
