Baghdad Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Staff Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi on Sunday directed security forces to intensify intelligence efforts and continue conducting preemptive operations.
According to a statement issued by Baghdad Operations Command and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Tamimi chaired an expanded security conference at the Operations Command headquarters, attended by commanders of army divisions, the Federal Police, Baghdad's Karkh and Rusafa police commands, the Law Preservation Command, as well as directors of intelligence agencies, the traffic police, emergency response, civil defense, a representative of the Popular Mobilization Commission, and a number of senior staff officers.
The statement said the meeting reviewed the most significant security duties and operational tasks, along with the results achieved during their implementation.
The statement said Al-Tamimi commended the role of security forces holding the ground and their cooperation with intelligence agencies, which he said had contributed to a decline in organized and violent crime, as well as in armed tribal disputes.
He stressed the need to intensify intelligence efforts and continue preemptive operations, as well as search and area-clearing missions to pursue outlaws, organized crime groups, and criminal elements, and to execute judicial arrest warrants in order to strengthen security and stability across all areas of responsibility.
Al-Tamimi also directed security forces to continue providing support to all government institutions and agencies in carrying out their duties, as well as to secure public events of all kinds. He further urged continued cooperation with citizens, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding their security and safety, and called for firm measures against anyone seeking to undermine public security and social stability.
