The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Austria, Hisham Al-Alawi, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, on Wednesday, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Austria.
The Iraqi Embassy stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Austria, Hisham Al-Alawi, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Austria, during the official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Vienna.”
The statement added, “The official ceremony, which followed the presentation of credentials, included the playing of the national anthems of the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Austria. This was followed by a review of the guard of honor by the Director of Protocol and the Iraqi Ambassador, a protocol tradition that embodies mutual respect between the two countries and underscores the importance of diplomatic relations between Iraq and Austria.” He continued, "The presentation of credentials ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Head of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President's Advisor for Foreign Policy, and the Director of Protocol at the Office of the President of the Republic. Also present at the ceremony from the Iraqi Embassy was Counselor Rahman Loaan, Deputy Ambassador."
