Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi emphasized on Wednesday the importance of economic and investment relations between Iraq and Turkey, noting the numerous investment opportunities available to Turkish companies.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, and representatives of several Turkish companies and businesspeople within the framework of the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council."
According to the statement, al-Zaidi stressed "the importance of economic and investment relations between Iraq and Turkey, noting the many investment opportunities available to Turkish companies. He also pointed to the Development Road project, the Faw Port project, the management and operation of hospitals and airports, and other investment projects, in addition to energy and water management projects."
He added that "the Prime Minister directed the facilitation of visa procedures for Turkish businesspeople, and other measures that would sustain the momentum of investment activity in Iraq."
For his part, the Turkish ambassador stressed his country’s government’s interest in developing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in various fields, while Turkish businessmen expressed their readiness to launch investment projects in Iraq.
