Minister of Water Resources Muthanna al-Tamimi discussed cooperation in the joint management of water resources with a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Energy for Water Resources Affairs on Tuesday.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi, received a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Energy for Water Resources Affairs to discuss cooperation in the file of managing joint water resources.”
"The Syrian delegation was headed by Osama Abu Zeid, Assistant Minister of Energy for Water Resources, and included a number of directors general from the Syrian Ministry of Energy and Water Resources."
"The meeting addressed prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of water resources management and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, primarily international agreements regulating water cooperation between the two sides."
According to the statement "The meeting addressed the issue of water releases in the Euphrates River and ways to enhance technical coordination and information exchange to contribute to achieving sustainable management of shared water resources, serving the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples."
