US President Donald Trump asserted on Sunday that an agreement with Iran would be finalized within two or three hours, while also urging the Iranians not to retaliate against the (Israeli) attacks targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut.

In remarks to Fox News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Trump stated, "I believe the agreement with Iran will be signed within two or three hours."

He added, "I will ask Iran not to respond to the (Israeli) strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut," noting that he had "asked Netanyahu not to launch further strikes in Lebanon."

He continued, "I told Netanyahu I was furious about the attack on Beirut and that he completely lacks good judgment."

He indicated that "if the agreement is signed tonight, I will immediately order the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran," emphasizing that "the initial signing of the agreement with Iran will be remote, followed by an in-person signing that may take place in Europe a week later."
