Sayyed Al-Sadr Orders Saraya al-Salam’s Integration into Iraqi State

The leader of the National Shia Movement, Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, announced on Wednesday the the complete separation of Saraya al-Salam from the National Shiite Movement and their integration into the state.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Sayyed al-Sadr said: "Proceeding from the public interest of the nation, and to avoid the imminent dangers surrounding the homeland, it has become imperative for us to announce the complete detachment of Saraya al-Salam from the National Shia Movement, and their absolute integration into the state and the general official responsible for military formations. Furthermore, the civilian entities affiliated with the Saraya shall transition into 'Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos' [The Solid Structure], completely devoid of any headquarters, weapons, uniforms, titles, or any other manifestations."

He added: "Ultimately, I can only thank the military formations of Saraya al-Salam for all their greater and lesser jihad, urging forgiveness to everyone who did not conform to our religious, ideological, and social ethos on the whole."
