Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has extended an invitation to the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya, Taher Al-Baour, to visit Iraq.
The media office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a phone call from the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya, Taher Al-Baour.”
It added that “during the call, Al-Baour conveyed his congratulations to Fuad Hussein on the renewal of confidence in him as Foreign Minister, wishing him success in performing his duties.”
The statement noted that “the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the State of Libya and ways to enhance joint cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries, as well as the importance of continued coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest. The minister also extended an invitation to Al-Baour to visit Iraq, in a step aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding areas of cooperation between the two countries.”
It further indicated that “both sides reviewed developments in the region, where the Libyan official emphasized the important role Iraq plays in supporting regional security and stability, and its efforts to promote dialogue and rapprochement among regional countries.”
