President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Saturday that efforts are ongoing to reach an understanding on disarmament to enhance the country's security and stability.
In a speech delivered at the Delphi Forum in Sulaimaniyah, attended by a correspondent from the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the President stated: "The Delphi Forum in Sulaimaniyah has, in a short period, created a vital platform for dialogue among political, economic, and intellectual leaders from around the world. The forum's success underscores the growing international awareness of the role Iraq can play in building bridges of dialogue and strengthening understanding between peoples and nations."
He added that "Iraq is working to develop its capabilities to become an attractive destination for projects and investments, and a safe and secure region for international companies and capital," praising "the decisions of several armed factions that have taken the initiative to cooperate in ensuring that the state alone possesses weapons." The President explained that “efforts are continuing to reach an understanding on disarmament in a way that enhances the security and stability of the country and contributes to building and reconstruction, as stability is no longer just a local goal, but has become a basic condition for local, regional and global development,” indicating that “practical and productive dialogues are a necessity that contributes to addressing challenges and reducing escalating risks, and the challenges facing Iraq should not hinder the aspiration to develop the well-being of the people and enhance opportunities for prosperity.”
