PMF launches large-scale security operation from Nineveh to Basra

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Saturday the launch of a large-scale security operation stretching from Nineveh to Basra, involving 15 operational commands and support from 16 PMF directorates and departments.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the PMF said, "In coordination with the Joint Operations Command and with air support from the Iraqi Air Force and Army Aviation, the Popular Mobilization Forces launched a large-scale security operation extending from Nineveh in the north to Basra in the south, with the participation of 15 operational commands and support from 16 PMF directorates and departments."

The statement added that "the operation was launched at exactly six o'clock this morning, under the supervision of the Chief of Staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abdul Aziz Al-Muhammadawi, according to precise security and intelligence plans aimed at pursuing the remnants of terrorism, destroying their hideouts and cutting off their movement routes, within the framework of enhancing security and stability in various governorates," noting that "the operation witnessed a wide deployment of security forces in a number of axes and areas, with the implementation of search and clearance operations, and the activation of night surveillance, ambushes and patrols, to prevent any possible security breach and secure the targeted areas."

It added that "the operation will continue until its objectives are achieved, amid high coordination between the various participating security formations and units," noting that "the Popular Mobilization Forces affirm their continued security efforts to protect cities and enhance stability across Iraqi territory, from Nineveh to Basra, through qualitative operations aimed at pursuing the remnants of terrorism and drying up the sources of its threat."
