China said on Friday there is no reason for the conflict involving Iran to continue.
In a statement published on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Beijing said, “This conflict, which should never have happened, has no justification for continuing.”
The statement added that a swift settlement of the situation would serve the interests of both the United States and Iran, as well as countries in the region and the wider international community.
China also said it has consistently believed that dialogue and negotiations are the best path forward and that a military solution is not the answer.
“Now that the door to dialogue has been opened, it should not be closed again, and we must consolidate the momentum toward de-escalation,” the statement said.
It added that China would continue working with the international community to provide greater support for peace talks between Iran and the United States.
