The Military Intelligence Directorate announced on Monday the seizure of more than 81,000 narcotic pills in Anbar province.
The directorate said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, “In implementation of the directives of the Director of Military Intelligence, which stressed the eradication of the drug scourge and the arrest of dealers, distributors, and smugglers of such substances, and based on accurate intelligence information and continuous monitoring by the Intelligence and Security Section of the Fifth Infantry Division affiliated with the directorate, intelligence detachments managed to seize more than 81,000 narcotic pills in the Anbar desert that had been prepared for smuggling and distribution, along with a GPS tracking device.”
It added that “the seized materials were handled in accordance with the approved legal procedures.”
