The United States plans to use its available mechanisms to make Iranian assets accessible to its Gulf allies to support reconstruction efforts, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
According to the source, Washington intends to facilitate the use of Iranian assets in support of reconstruction and reforms needed to address future damage that could be caused by Iran.
Reuters reported that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has directed his team to assess conditions among U.S. allies in the Gulf and estimate the costs of damage attributed to Iran.
The report added that Washington will examine the possibility of using Iranian assets to support efforts aimed at repairing damage resulting from previous incidents.
