The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the Iranian response does not meet U.S. demands regarding the nuclear program.
The American newspaper quoted informed sources as saying that “Iran has officially sent a multi-page response to the U.S. proposal to end the war,” stressing that “the Iranian response does not meet U.S. demands for guarantees regarding the nuclear program and the stockpile of highly enriched uranium.”
It added that “Iran is proposing an end to the fighting and the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in parallel with the lifting of the U.S. blockade,” noting that “Iran is proposing to dilute part of its highly enriched uranium and transfer the remainder to a country other than the United States.”
The report indicated that “the Iranian response demands guarantees ensuring the return of the transferred uranium in the event negotiations fail,” adding that “Iran expressed readiness to suspend uranium enrichment on the condition that the period be less than 20 years.”
It further noted that “the Iranian response rejects dismantling nuclear facilities.”
