The North Oil Company announced on Sunday the construction of a new dock as part of storage expansion operations aimed at accelerating the unloading of oil transported from Basra.
Director of the K1 oil station site, Sarmad Mohammed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the new expansion works at the K1 oil station, being carried out by the engineering staff of the North Oil Company, have been nearly completed, with the construction of a new dock containing ten pumps reaching 90% completion.”
He added that “the new pumps will help speed up the unloading of oil transported from the Basra fields and inject it into oil pipelines leading to the Turkish port of Ceyhan as part of the export process,” noting that “the development and increase in the number of pumps will raise the station’s unloading capacity.”
He further stated that “these works come within the plans of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to develop oil facilities, which will contribute to accelerating export operations.”
