Iraq and Turkiye agreed on Tuesday to accelerate theimplementation of the strategic Development Road Project and deepen ties acrosskey sectors, including oil, water, energy, security, trade, transportation, andeducation, during expanded bilateral talks led by Iraqi Prime Minister AliFaleh Al-Zaidi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Iraqi PM’s office said the talks, held at thePresidential Complex in Ankara, focused on expanding joint projects andincluded an agreement to convene the standing committee responsible for thewater issue on a regular basis.
Erdogan noted Turkiye's commitment to boost cooperation andexpressed Ankara's readiness to support Iraq's civil aviation sector, andencourage Turkish companies to invest in Iraq's development sectors.
Al-Zaidi arrived in Ankara today on an official visit to Turkiye, leading a high-level government delegation.
According to a joint statement, the two sides decided tohold the fifth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council inBaghdad, complete the ratification of pending bilateral deals, and activatejoint committees to expand ties.
Iraq and Turkiye will pursue a comprehensive energycooperation aimed at strengthening both countries' energy security.

Both sides discussed joint counterterrorism measures andborder security, while agreeing to maintain close coordination on regionaldevelopments, particularly the situation in Palestine. They also committed tomark the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iraq and Turkiye in2027 through reciprocal events and official visits.
