Iran said on Sunday that it had suspended its retaliatory attacks after the United States halted military strikes against the country, amid signs of renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran. Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Akrami Nia said US forces had stopped their attacks over the previous two nights. “The Americans halted their attacks during the past two nights,” Akrami Nia said. “Since our strategy is based primarily on reciprocity, we have also halted our retaliatory operations.” His remarks came as an Omani delegation arrived in Tehran for talks that reportedly include discussions on the Strait of Hormuz, raising expectations that negotiations between the two sides may continue.
