Tehran summons Ukrainian diplomats after Kyiv bombs Iranian ship
Iran has summoned Ukraine’s diplomats after Kyiv bombed an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea, killing at least one sailor and wounding another.
Earlier on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in a social media post praised the results of "long‑range strikes" in the Caspian Sea, alluding to vessels shipping military cargo, but did not identify the nationality of the targets.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said the incident violated the UN Charter. The ministry also said that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi raised the issue in a phone call with the European Union's foreign policy chief, urging the international community and the UN Security Council to condemn the attack.
In a separate statement, the ministry warned that Ukraine's actions reflected a hostile stance towards Iran.
