A Kuwaiti State Security Court of Appeal has overturned a 10-year prison sentence imposed on a Kuwaiti citizen convicted of spying-related offences and sentenced him to life imprisonment instead. The defendant was found guilty of attempting to spy for Iran and Hezbollah, meeting with their leaders, and receiving training in weapons handling and drone operations in Kuwait under the supervision of members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah in the Iranian city of Qom. The court ruled that his actions harmed Kuwait’s national interests.
