Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein commended the active diplomatic role of the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durel, in strengthening bilateral relations on Thursday.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Ambassador of the French Republic to Iraq, Patrick Durel, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission."
The statement added that "the Foreign Minister thanked Ambassador Durel for his efforts in developing bilateral relations, wishing him success in his upcoming mission as Ambassador of the French Republic to the Lebanese Republic."
According to the statement, Hussein praised "the active diplomatic role of the French Ambassador and the efforts he exerted during his tenure, which contributed significantly to strengthening and developing Iraqi-French relations."
For his part, the French ambassador expressed his “thanks and appreciation to the Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the cooperation and support he received during his time in Iraq,” stressing “his pride in the progress achieved in the course of Iraqi-French relations, and the continuation of work to strengthen and develop them.”
