Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of theArmed Forces Ali Al-Zaidi on Tuesday appointed Lt. Gen. Falah Shaghati asacting head of the Interior Ministry’s Intelligence Agency, a security sourcetold Shafaq News.
Shaghati previously served as Assistant InteriorMinister for Intelligence under former Interior Minister Abdul AmirAl-Shammari. No further details about the appointment were disclosed.
Since taking office, Al-Zaidi has reshuffled seniorgovernment positions while pursuing the nationwide Dawn Crackdown (SawlatAl-Fajr) anti-corruption campaign targeting officials, lawmakers, and businessfigures. The campaign has resulted in more than 70 arrests, the recovery ofbillions of Iraqi dinars, and the seizure of assets allegedly obtained throughcorruption.
