The President of the Republic Nizar Amedi received a delegation from the Iraqi National Women's Team, headed by its Coordinator, Dhifaf Thabit Al-Jarrah, at Al-Salam Palace on Tuesday as the discussions centered on the status of Iraqi women and ways to strengthen their role in public life.
Addressing the delegation, President Amedi reaffirmed that "empowering Iraqi women is a fundamental pillar of state-building and achieving sustainable development."
The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “President Amedi stressed the importance of expanding women's participation in decision-making positions and supporting initiatives that enhance their capacities in line with the Iraqi Constitution and Iraq's national and international commitments to protecting women's rights.
The President noted that Iraqi women have demonstrated their competence and made significant sacrifices in service of the nation across a wide range of fields.
"Their contributions require a supportive legislative and institutional environment that enables them to realize their full potential and contribute their expertise to Iraq's reform and development efforts," he said.
Dhifaf Thabit Al-Jarrah briefed the President on the team's key programs and initiatives in the areas of women's empowerment, social protection, capacity building, and community engagement.
She expressed appreciation for the President's continued support for issues concerning women and families, as well as his commitment to advancing national efforts aimed at promoting justice and equal opportunities.
