Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Atroshi and President of The Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq Sheikh Humam Hammoudi affirmed their support for the government's efforts, as well as those of the judicial and oversight authorities, in combating corruption.
The Deputy Speaker's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Atroshi, accompanied by a number of members of parliament, met with President of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council Sheikh Humam Hammoudi.
The statement said the two sides discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, as well as the work of the legislative institution and its national and constitutional responsibilities.
The statement added that the two sides affirmed their support for the efforts of the government and the judicial and oversight authorities to combat financial and administrative corruption, in a way that contributes to protecting public funds, enhancing stability, unifying the visions of political forces in the service of the country's higher interests, and meeting the aspirations of its citizens.
