President of the Republic Nizar Amedi said on Sunday that caring for people with disabilities is a national responsibility that requires coordinated efforts to ensure their empowerment and protect their rights.
The Media Office of the Presidency said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that President Amedi received at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad a delegation from the Renewed Hope Organization for the Care of People with Special Needs.
The meeting was attended by lawmakers Ayat Adham and Hatif Al-Dhalimi, and discussed humanitarian and volunteer work, as well as ways to support community initiatives aimed at assisting people with disabilities and strengthening national efforts in this field.
According to the statement, the president said supporting this group is a shared national responsibility that requires cooperation among state institutions, civil society organizations and the private sector to safeguard their rights, enhance their capabilities and provide an environment that enables their active participation in various areas.
Amedi also stressed the importance of supporting community initiatives that serve vulnerable groups, particularly people with disabilities, saying such efforts reflect values of solidarity and social responsibility while contributing to stronger social cohesion and promoting a culture of humanitarian work.
The organization’s delegation expressed its appreciation to the president for his support of humanitarian efforts and services for people with disabilities, affirming its commitment to continuing its work in support of the group.
