The spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces affirmed today that his country will not relinquish its legitimate rights in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the strait falls under the shared sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman.
The spokesman said in statements followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Strait of Hormuz is entirely within the sovereignty of Iran and Oman, and no external party has the right to interfere in its affairs, especially the United States of America.”
He added that "the Iranian Armed Forces are deployed in the Strait of Hormuz with the primary objective of maintaining the security and safety of shipping through it," noting that this presence guarantees the stability of international maritime traffic.
The Iranian spokesperson continued: "We have designated the northern route of the Strait of Hormuz as a safe passage, but America forces ships to take other routes," warning against attempts to destabilize the security of this vital waterway.
