The White House confirmed on Thursday that Iran is continuing talks with the United States and seeking to reach a deal, while emphasizing that US President Donald Trump will not allow any threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, affirming his commitment to diplomacy while upholding the principle of "peace through strength."
"Iran is continuing talks with the United States and wants to reach a deal," White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said.
She added that the recent strikes on Iran were due to its violation of the Memorandum of Understanding, while she affirmed that "President Donald Trump has demonstrated to the world that the United States can strike Iran anytime, anywhere."
"President Trump is always open to diplomatic solutions because he believes in the principle of achieving peace through strength," Leavitt confirmed.
"President Trump and Vice President Jay D. Vance share identical positions on Iran," she added.
"President Trump will not allow Iran to fire on ships in the Strait of Hormuz without facing consequences," Leavitt stressed.
