Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi congratulated the Mandaean Sabians in Iraq and around the world on Thursday on the occasion of their “Parwanaya Festival."

Al-Zaidi made the congratulations in a post on the X platform, which was monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) and said “ I extend my best wishes to the Mandaean community in Iraq and around the world, as they celebrate the Parwanaya Festival, and pray that this occasion brings them peace and prosperity.”

He affirmed “The Mandaeans are an integral part of Iraq’s rich and diverse heritage. Throughout Iraq’s history, they have made significant contributions to building the nation and enriching its scientific, cultural, and humanitarian legacy. Iraq will remain a homeland that embraces its entire people on the basis of citizenship, justice, and mutual respect.”

The prime minister added “We renew our commitment to protecting Iraq’s diversity, safeguarding the rights of all communities, and strengthening the values of peaceful coexistence that remain a source of strength for our beautiful country.”
