Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received yesterday evening, Monday, at his residence in Washington, D.C., a number of representatives of .the Iraqi community and Iraqi business leaders from the U.S. state of Michigan.

Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA that "During the meeting, the participants reviewed the conditions of the Iraqi community and prospects for expanding its participation in Iraq’s development and investment process, as well as opportunities for Iraqi expatriates to contribute to diversifying the Iraqi economy."

The statement added "Prime Minister Al-Zaidi stressed that the government views Iraq’s cultural diversity and diverse communities as a source of Iraqi human wealth, both at home and abroad. He called on Iraqi business leaders in the United States, particularly Christians, to invest in promising sectors such as education, healthcare, and petroleum products. The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s plans to significantly increase oil production within three years."

It also said "The Prime Minister also welcomed the return of Iraqi Christian families to their ancestral homeland and their participation in the reconstruction of the Nineveh Plains. He further emphasized opportunities to establish branches of U.S. banks in Iraq, affirming the government’s commitment to protecting the historic presence of Iraq’s communities, whose fraternal diversity enriches the country."

On their part, the representatives of the Iraqi community expressed their readiness to enter the Iraqi market and establish productive partnerships between U.S. companies and Iraq’s public and private sectors, in a manner that supports the diversification of the Iraqi economy and expands cooperation across all economic fields.
