Morning update
Good morning Middle East Eye readers,
Iran and the US have exchanged fresh attacks overnight and early on Monday morning.
The latest Iranian strikes across the region targeted military infrastructure and radars in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. Meanwhile, Washington said it hit dozens of targets with precision munitions.
Here are the latest developments:
Iran has warned that ongoing US interference in the Strait of Hormuz will lead to "larger incidents" in the international oil and gas sector.
A US attack on an agricultural water pumping station in the city of Mahshahr killed one person and injured four others, state media reported.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has said that the Bushehr nuclear power plant is "safe and stable" in response to circulating claims that it was targeted.
US Central Command said it struck military air-defence systems, small boats, coastal radar sites as well as missile and drone capabilities. "The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade," it added. "Iran does not control it."
Syria is set to host its first business forum alongside the US on Monday, with the event focused on Syria’s economic recovery, reform plans and investment opportunities. The forum marks another step towards economic restoration following Washington's decades of sanctions on the country.
