Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council announced on Monday the recovery of 375 kilograms of gold in the corruption case involving the detained former Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs, Adnan Al-Jumaili.
The investigative judge at the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, Diaa Jaafar, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, “In coordination with the Kurdistan Region and under the supervision of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, 358 kilograms of gold were recovered.”
The judge added that 17 kilograms of gold were seized in a separate investigation, bringing the total amount secured on Monday, July 13, 2026, to 375 kilograms.
He further explained that the recovered gold was handed over to the Director General of the Issuance and Treasury Department at the Central Bank of Iraq and his deputy as part of ongoing efforts to complete the investigation into the case involving the detained former Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs, Adnan Al-Jumaili, recover the movable and immovable assets obtained through the crime, and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law.
