US President Donald Trump affirmed on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial navigation and the passage of ships.
In remarks to NBC, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Trump stated, "The Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial navigation."
In the same context, the US Central Command confirmed that "the Revolutionary Guard's claim that it does not allow any ship to pass through Hormuz without Iranian monitoring and tracking is incorrect," noting that "Iran does not control Hormuz, which remains an international waterway, and we are prepared to maintain this status quo."
