GCC, UAE condemns Iranian attacks in region
The Gulf of Cooperation Council (GCC) released a statement on Thursday issuing a condemnation of Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and holding Iran responsible for threatening global energy security and trade, and breaching the terms of the memorandum of understanding with the US.
The GCC also called on the Security Council to take a firm stance to ensure freedom of navigation in the strait and demanded that Iran immediately and unconditionally end all hostilities, without mentioning the US and Israel's role in the conflict.
The United Arab Emirates' foreign ministry similarly condemned Iran’s missile attack on Jordan in a statement to X, calling it a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and said it stands in “full solidarity” with the kingdom to support “all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability”.
