NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte affirmed on Wednesday that the alliance is defensive and will not attack any country, while simultaneously stressing the necessity of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, the Secretary General stated, "Everyone must work towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz," adding that "the alliance will not attack any country, but it will defend itself if attacked."
