The security advisor to the Prime Minister, Qasim al-Araji, affirmed on Monday that security and intelligence cooperation is a cornerstone for enhancing security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
In a post on the X platform, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Araji stated: "The Iraqi government believes that security and intelligence cooperation is a cornerstone for enhancing security and stability at the regional and international levels, through developing mechanisms for exchanging information, coordinating joint efforts, combating the financing of terrorism, and tightening border security, thereby enhancing the ability to anticipate and effectively counter threats."
He added: "It also emphasizes that achieving sustainable security requires, in addition to security measures, addressing the root causes of extremism, consolidating the values of moderation, supporting development, and strengthening regional and international cooperation in a way that safeguards common interests and fulfills the aspirations of the region's peoples for peace and prosperity."
