Head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi, said on Saturday that the world will witness the zeal of Iraqis in the funeral procession of the martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei, noting that the martyr is the symbol of this era in confronting oppression and tyranny.
Sheikh Hamoudi said during the Dialogue Forum, according to a statement issued by his media office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Iraqis will not abandon those who stood with them, and the world will witness their zeal in the funeral procession of the martyr Sayyed Khamenei," noting that "the martyred Sayyed Khamenei is the symbol of this era in confronting oppression and tyranny, following the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), for the sake of freedom, dignity, and justice."
He added that "the martyr Khamenei combined asceticism, courage, forbearance, knowledge, and a precise political understanding of the enemy's way of thinking, thus building a state empowered by its capabilities and great through its people," indicating that "through the blessing of the blood of the martyred Khamenei, the Iranian Revolution has been renewed with an even greater spirit and with massive public participation that embodied the strongest message of defiance to the enemy."
He pointed out that "the martyr Sayyed loved Iraq and the Iraqi people, was a patron of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, and made sacrifices for Iraq, opening his country's military stockpiles to the Popular Mobilization Forces to confront ISIS," stressing that "we will not abandon those who stood with us, and the chivalry, zeal, and tradition of gratitude of the Iraqi people will have a remarkable presence in welcoming and accompanying the funeral procession of the martyr Imam Khamenei."
He continued: "The martyr Sayyed Khamenei was close to Qom and Najaf and was keen to preserve harmony and rapprochement between them."
