The Ministry of Oil announced on Wednesday a strategic step to invest in 300 million standard cubic feet per day of gas.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, confirmed in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) "the importance of the Artawi project within the Ministry of Oil's plans to invest in associated gas, given its significant contribution to supporting the energy sector, reducing emissions, and enhancing economic and environmental returns."

He said that "the project aims to invest in and process quantities of up to 300 million standard cubic feet per day as a first phase, from gas produced from the Artawi, West Qurna/2, and Majnoon fields," stressing the importance of completing the work within the specified timeframes, in a way that contributes to providing energy and improving services provided to citizens.

The statement added that "this came during his visit to the Artawi field site in Basra Governorate, where he inspected the progress of the production units under construction, including the AG25 accelerated gas utilization project and the GMP project."
