Iraqi Justice Minister Khalid Shawani met with the Yemeni Ambassador to Iraq, Al-Khader Ahmed Marmash, on Wednesday to discuss procedures for signing a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of prisoners between Iraq and Yemen.
The Ministry of Justice stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Justice Minister Khalid Shawani received the Yemeni Ambassador to Iraq, Al-Khader Ahmed Marmash, at the ministry headquarters to discuss ways to enhance legal cooperation between the two brotherly countries."
It added that "the meeting included discussions on finalizing the procedures for signing a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of prisoners between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Yemen, which will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the judicial field, in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and international agreements."
According to the statement, the Minister of Justice affirmed "the Ministry of Justice's commitment to expanding cooperation with brotherly and friendly nations, particularly in legal fields, in order to enhance justice, preserve rights, and serve common interests."
The Yemeni ambassador expressed his "appreciation for the ministry's efforts in completing the requirements for signing the memorandum of understanding," stressing his country's aspiration to "strengthen judicial cooperation between Baghdad and Sana'a."
