President Nizar Amedi received Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi at Baghdad Palace on Wednesday.

The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA):”The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Iraq-GCC relations and a shared commitment to broadening cooperation across multiple sectors.”

It added,”Welcoming the Secretary-General, President Amedi praised the deep-rooted ties between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and the steady progress in their relations. He emphasized that Iraq's security is inseparable from the security of the Gulf states, adding, "Strengthening cooperation and deepening coordination are essential to promoting regional stability, advancing shared prosperity and serving the common interests of our peoples."

President Amedi reaffirmed,” that Iraq's foreign policy is guided by openness and constructive engagement with its regional and international partners, adding, "Expanding cooperation with our regional partners serves our shared interests and reflects Iraq's commitment to constructive engagement." He also stressed that deepening coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern is essential to advancing regional security, stability and sustainable development.”

Secretary-General Albudaiwi conveyed the greetings of the leaders of the GCC member states to President Amedi and reaffirmed the Council's commitment to deepening cooperation with Iraq while expanding partnership and regional integration in support of lasting security, stability and shared prosperity.
