Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, affirmed on Tuesday that the GCC states remain committed to supporting Iraq’s prosperity, stressing that Iraq’s security is integral to the security of the Gulf and the wider region.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad, attended by a correspondent from the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Budaiwi said, “This visit to Baghdad carries many important messages, and we commend Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi for the significant steps he has taken.”
He added, “I discussed with the Foreign Minister the latest regional developments and ongoing de-escalation efforts,” noting, “We commend the Iraqi government’s measures to prevent attacks launched from Iraqi territory against the Gulf states.”
He continued, “The GCC states will continue to support Iraq’s prosperity,” stressing that “Iraq’s security is integral to the security of the Gulf states and the region.”
