National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed on Tuesday that the new National Security Strategy charts Iraq’s path toward sustainable security.

The National Security Advisory Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi chaired a meeting on Tuesday to discuss mechanisms for implementing the new Iraqi National Security Strategy. The meeting was attended by military and security leaders, as well as advisers from the Prime Minister’s Office.”

According to the statement, the meeting discussed mechanisms for implementing the new Iraqi National Security Strategy and aligning it with regional and international developments to achieve the goals of sustainable security and stability at the national, regional, and international levels.

“The meeting was held in implementation of the government’s directives aimed at strengthening the state’s security, stability, and prosperity, while safeguarding the security of its citizens in light of the new security strategy,” the statement added.

“The new Iraqi National Security Strategy charts Iraq’s path toward sustainable security and stability, serving as a roadmap that defines the priorities of national security and sets out a clear future vision for the country’s security policy in line with anticipated developments and emerging challenges,” Al-Aboudi said.
