Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday with KBR, a U.S.-based company specializing in the energy sector.

According to a statement published on the official Facebook page of the U.S. Embassy and monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Governor Al-Eidani received Chargé d'Affaires Harris, along with a delegation from KBR, during a meeting in Basra.

The statement said that Harris expressed the United States' aspiration to deepen the economic partnership between the United States and Iraq in the region, adding " We look forward to strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and Iraq in this region and advancing our shared commitment to delivering tangible results that benefit both the American and Iraqi peoples."

During the meeting, Governor Al-Eidani signed the Memorandum of Understanding with KBR, a U.S. company specializing in energy, aerospace, and technology. KBR (formerly Kellogg Brown & Root) is a global American engineering, technology, and professional services company headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company is a major international contractor with operations across the energy, oil and gas, defense, and aerospace sectors.
